After a busy week of nonconference baseball, the Flashes will take a week off before returning home to play two games against Post 170 and Burke County Post 21. They will also host McDowell Post 56 and Burke County Post 21 on July 23 and 25. On Monday, the Flashes rallied from an early deficit to defeat Post 392 in the opener of a twin bill. In the second game, Caldwell County trailed 2-0 after three innings, but came back to win the doubleheader.
The Kent State University Football team is the varsity intercollegiate athletic team. The team competes in the Mid-American Conference East Division and the National Collegiate Athletic Association at Division I and Football Bowl Subdivision levels. Currently, the Golden Flashes are ranked No. 8 in the nation. In 2013, they won their first Big Ten conference championship. The team is led by head coach Greg Gardiner, who was named the Mid-American Conference’s Coach of the Year.
