Their most distinguishable feature is the V-shaped marking on their forehead and breathtaking blue eyes. Their colorings are usually bi-color or tri-color. They look squishy and adorable because of their thick limbs, soft bodies, and long tail. They have a unique combination of a light-colored body with a darker face, tails, ears, and legs. Living needs of Ragdoll Cat
Ragdoll cats are social and require companionship, so they might quickly get into depression if they are left alone for long periods or not receiving adequate love and attention from their owners. Depression might hamper their sleep and eating schedule producing destructive behavior, which should immediately be discussed with a vet. They have thick fur and need to be combed twice a week; otherwise, the coat might mat and shed. Ragdolls also prefer to be an indoor-only cat though they love to play and are pretty cheeky.
Physical Characteristics of Ragdoll Cat
A full-grown male Ragdoll cat can weigh around 12-20 pounds, and fully matured female cats can weigh about 8 to 15 pounds, slightly smaller than males. It can take up to four years for them to reach full mature size. They have a lifespan of about 10-15 years. They have a high tendency to shed as they have a long silky coat.
History of Ragdoll Cat
This breed was known to start in California in the 1960s. The Ragdoll cat is presumably a mixture of Burmese, Persian, and the Birman but the cat credited to be the original Ragdoll is a white cat named Josephine. Hence, Ragdoll cats are also known as the daughters of Josephine. No outcross inbreeding is allowed for this breed and has extremely strict for color placement.
