Fabrication labor is where steel framing quietly becomes expensive. A welded steel assembly
needs cutting, fitting, welding, grinding, and painting before it can be installed, and each stage
adds hours and introduces distortion that has to be corrected. Extruded aluminum arrives with the
cross-section already formed, so sourcing from an Indonesia aluminum factory shifts that work
upstream into the press. Complex shapes that would require several welded steel components,
including internal cavities and integrated fin arrays, come out of the die as one continuous piece.
PT Exalum Metal Indo has extruded at its Tangerang facility for years, supplying architectural
and industrial customers across domestic and export markets. Looking through the range of
Exalummetal industrial aluminum products shows how much is available as standard: each
profile carries a section number, a fixed catalog reference whose dimensions do not change
between orders, so no tooling investment is needed before production starts. These six profiles
below cover most industrial specifications.
Unequal Channel
Unequal channel, also listed as C channel, guides panels along one axis while retaining them on
the other, used as sliding track for partitions, shopfitting capping, and glazed screens. Section
32032 is 25.40 mm across the web with a 12.70 mm flange in a 0.90 mm wall, 0.119 kg per
metre, and section 32042 is deeper at 50.80 mm with the same wall, 0.182 kg per metre.
Extruded as one piece, the internal corners have no fold line or seam that can open under load.
Conveyor Profile
Conveyor profile, or T-slot extrusion, is the modular alternative to a welded machine frame.
Section 70440 is a single-slot rail at 1.35 mm wall, 1.184 kg per metre, while section 70010 is
heavier at 2.15 mm wall, 1.589 kg per metre for bases under mechanical stress. A T-nut slides
into the channel and locks when the bolt is tightened, which gives a continuous fastening line
along every slotted face and removes drilling from the assembly sequence.
Equal Angle
Equal angle handles corner bracing and edge protection across rack frames, machine guards, and
signage structures. Section 20026 has 12.70 mm legs at 0.85 mm wall, 0.056 kg per metre;
section 20048 is much heavier at a 19.05 mm leg and 2.00 mm wall, 0.196 kg per metre. Wall
thickness across the catalog runs from 1.2 mm up to 6.0 mm, so a fabricator can match the
section to the bracket load rather than defaulting to one size for everything.
Heatsink
Heatsink profiles remove heat from LED drivers, transformers, motor controllers, and server
hardware by presenting dense fin surface to moving air. Section 96008 runs a 1.00 mm wall at
0.331 kg per metre, and section 96003 carries thicker 1.50 mm fins at 0.875 kg per metre, where
continuous thermal duty rewards the extra material. Full fin geometry options, including straight,
flared, and serrated, are set out on the Exalum product pages.
Rectangular Hollow
Rectangular hollow section resists torsional twisting that would distort an open profile, which
suits canopy frames, fencing, balustrade infills, and equipment enclosures. Section 45140 is 40
by 20 mm in a 1.20 mm wall at 0.380 kg per metre, and section 45145 runs 40 by 25 mm in a
1.60 mm wall with a 0.70 mm radius, 0.534 kg per metre. Depth drives stiffness
disproportionately, so orienting the section on its deep axis is worth checking before the frame is
drawn.
Flat Bar
Flat bar covers brackets, spacers, base plates, and structural straps in almost every fabrication
shop. Section 10062 is 30 mm by 3 mm at 0.243 kg per metre, and section 10082 is 33 mm by 16
mm with a 2.00 mm radius, 1.421 kg per metre. Thicker sections like the second need
substantially more press force, which is exactly why ordering from a tooled catalog makes more
sense than commissioning a die for one project.
Standard sections stay the practical choice for industrial supply because tooling is already in
place, lead times are shorter, and dimensions repeat reliably. The right profile depends on the
load, the fabrication method, and the finish the application needs.
Requesting a Quotation
If your project calls for aluminum extrusion profiles in production quantities, Exalum Metal
supports volume supply from Indonesia to the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia,
Canada, and other industrial markets. Send your profile drawing or section number, required cut
lengths, estimated order volume, and finishing specification such as anodizing or powder coating
to [email protected] or WhatsApp +62 811 9429 970. Custom die development is
available for non-standard requirements.
